Veto Vito / An interactive portrait of performance artist Vito Acconci, created in New York City shortly before his 75th birthday / / Documentary works · 2014
Veto Vito is a portrait of Vito Acconci — American poet, architect, and conceptual artist, known for his seminal performance pieces of the early 1970s, which used his own body as both subject and tool. To Vito, work has always been the most important part of life — but in 2014, Vito got married, and his feelings started to change. Veto Vito is a depiction of that change.
Veto Vito was made in two days — during bit by bit at Columbia University’s Brown Institute for Media Innovation. A video of our conversation is here.
