After writing a term paper about Thomas Nast, I sought to try my hand at a similar form of satire, so I began to create a series of political cartoons skewering various personalities and predicaments about life at Deerfield Academy.

My cartoons were initially published in the school newspaper, The Scroll, but after a few of them were censored, I left The Scroll to start my own publication, The Lower Level — named for the area on campus where the athletic fields are located, beside the Deerfield River.
